OVERVIEW EXPLANATION

Neprilysin is an Enzyme (protein catalyst) that plays a significant role in regulating the brain as well as participating in the progression or regressions of cancer. High quantities are usually associated with the suppression of transformed or cancerous cells whereas low quantities of Neprilysin can encourage the growth of a tumour and also inhibit the memory process.

DETAILED EXPLANATION

Neprilysin is an Enzyme mainly produced by the precursors of B cells and T cells of the Immune System as well as neutrophils and epithelial cells. It is able to degrade a number of bioactive peptides such as enkephalines, atrial natriuretic peptide and amyloid beta peptide. This assay is designed to evaluate the activity of one of the important factors which is implemented in the regulation of the brain and the Immune System functioning, as well as in the progression / regression of a cancer.

High quantities of Neprilysin could be associated with a risk of low activity of some immunological cells, e.g. leukocytes, but also with the suppression of both the growth and dissemination of cancerous cells. Low quantities can lead to memory problems and also to both tumour growth and dissemination.
